Our Story

Shed Oxford was formed in 1997. It is a registered charity (1176953), self-funded by our members and grants. Currently the members meet twice each week, Mondays, Wednesdays: 10:30am until 3:30pm.

We are able to run a workshops on alternative days and timings. Subject to having enough people registering an interest attend. Do contact us if alternative day/timings would interest you.

Shed Oxford operated for 7 years from premises in Sutton Courtenay. We received a request to vacate these premises and this prompted an urgent search for new premises.

We were delighted to be offered an alternative facility within Oxford RFC community hub, at North Hinksey. In May 2024, we secured a long lease, which provides the security of tenure and the stable environment Shed Oxford needed to move forwards. It also provided time to transition to the Oxford location, alongside other community groups. We are now closer to a central Oxford location.

The building affectionately known as ‘the Nissen Hut had fallen into disrepair and was being used to store a significant accumulation of unused materials. The Nissen Hut is now fully renovated, with a fully equipped Workspace, with a full range woodworking machinery and power tools.  See the Nissen Hut Renovation page. New disabled access has been added and we have renovated and put in place a separate woodstore. Shed Oxford is fully equipped and operational.
